What is Micro FM Radio?
Micro Fm radio is just like any other radio
station you ordinarily listen to Except, they run with much lower
power. Do Micro Fm stations sound the same? Unless some body told
you, you would never know you were listening to one. Why Micro Fm
radio? For years we have watched broadcast radio, both Am and Fm
evolve into nothing more than a for profit business. Large
corporations buy up radio stations, program them the way they
want
with no regard for their community. In other words, all this
nonsense
about serving in the public interest as a public trustee is a
bunch of
hogwash. Want an example? In February 2001, an ice storm came
through
the Kansas City area, what was worse, it was during the morning
rush
hour. Eight stations, owned by the same corporation, were knocked
off
the air because they all broadcast from the same building. When
the
power went out, they all went down with no backup to be found.
Meanwhile, another station was broadcasting a morning show in
which
the two personalities were acting stupid, with little information
about what was going on around the area. Want another example?
Farmers in Klamath Falls Oregon had their water shut off by our
"loving" federal government, that is if you are a fly,
a plant, or
some odd rat or mouse that no one has even heard of. What was
even
worse, is that the farmers own the land and the head gates that
control the water. Wile the standoff was going on the news media
never said one thing about it, accept for local media around
Klamath
Falls, and a few online news papers. Micro Fm can offer an
alternative to the nonsense found with big corporate radio and
can
provide the real news that you won't hear anywhere else. A one
watt
station could serve an entire neighborhood. Information could be
broadcast informing people of conditions immediately around them
helping them make informed decisions during weather emergencies.
Since micro Fm stations can operate with power ranges from one
watt
all the way to 100 watts, backup power is much easier to come by.
A
small micro Fm station could be run for several hours on a bank
of 12
volt batteries. Help us at N.A.M.B. to take back the air-waves.
Call
your congressman and let them know that you support good
responsible
low power Fm broadcasting. If they tell you that there is already
a
low power Fm service, simply tell them that, to date, individuals
can
not own and operate low power Fm stations. This move by the fcc
is
only a carrot stick approach to allowing low power Fm. What is
even
better, is that under United States code title 47, there are
little
known provisions that allow for unlicensed broadcasting. However,
don't take my word for it, below is a link to the document I just
mentioned dealing with unlicensed broadcast stations. Click here
to read the provisions for yourself. In our nation today, we meet
the requirements set forth in this document. If you do the
research,
you will find that we are and have been under national emergency
since 1933. This is a fact that our government officials don't
want
you to know. And as of September 11th 2001, President George W.
Bush
has made the state of emergency permanent. Keep in mind, the
government has never followed many of it's own laws so remember
that
you are putting on a station at your own risk, and you are
responsible for anything that happens. In the future, we will
collect
a library of documents for downloading, so that if you decide to
put
on a micro station, you will know what you are doing should you
run
into problems with the fcc. It pays to be educated on the laws of
this nation. If you decide to start a station or if you are
already
a micro broadcaster, let us know. We are particularly interested
in
those micro stations carrying constitutional programming.
constitutional programming is easy to carry because all you need
is a
satellite dish, a mixer board, a microphone or two for local
content
and possibly a computer for internet streaming a CD player, a
mini
disc recorder or two for recorded programming, and of course, a
transmitter and antenna. also an audio limiter compressor would
be a
must. An audio limiter compressor would keep your audio from
getting
any louder than what you had set by the controls on the limiter
compressor. If you try to run a station without an audio limiter
compressor, your audio may get to loud and cause problems for
other
Fm stations near the channel on which you are broadcasting. by
all
means please be sure to keep your station as clean as possible.
You
want to be sure you are on a quiet frequency and your station
must
not interfere with other stations or WITH aviation services. The
aviation band, otherwise known as the aircraft band, is right
above
the FM broadcast band. One other thing, just because a frequency
sounds quiet does not mean that it is. In some parts of the US
translators rebroadcast stations from other places and you could
wined up on the input frequency of one of these translators.
Remember, you have to be better than good. you can not bother any
one
in the slightest. Remember, you are on your own, so please be
responsible. your station must be so clean so as to out-perform
the
big stations around you. Believe me, it's not that hard to do. |
